

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Professional Certificate in Aesthetic Medical Practice (PCAMP) is specifically designed for medical doctors who wish to develop their clinical knowledge and skills in the field of Aesthetic Medicine. This course seeks to advance qualified professionals in aesthetic medical practice by offering high quality training, organised by a legitimate medical professional institution, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Sultan Muhammad V, The Sultan of Kelantan.
The PCAMP is an intensive, part-time, postgraduate taught programme, encompassing the science of aesthetics, the application of evidence based practice, and the clinical assessment and management of patients presenting with aesthetic problems. Candidates will be encouraged to develop a translational approach to learning and practice, throughout the course.
In addition, supervision and training will be provided by national and international leaders in the field of aesthetic research, regulation and clinical practice. This course is conducted by the Society for Anti-Aging, Aesthetic and Regenerative Medicine Malaysia (SAAARMM), in collaboration with the World Anti-Aging Academy of Medicine (WAAAM-Asia). This allows us to develop a unique course, with an interdisciplinary faculty, clinical research scientists and healthcare industry experts as the backbone.

LEARNING OUTCOMES AND AIMS
The aim of this course is to advance the PCAMP graduates with the ability to apply scientific principles and the latest evidence based research in the practice of Aesthetic Medicine. Candidates will acquire clinical knowledge, specialist practical skills and critical awareness, in non and minimally invasive aesthetic procedures, supported by international leading experts, prominent local lecturers and LCP certified faculty for clinical training, to meet the minimum level of competency, set by the Training Subcommittee of Aesthetic Medical Practice, Ministry of Health Malaysia, and to encourage all Malaysian graduates to obtain a Letter of Credentialing and Privileging (LCP) for aesthetic medical practice.
On completion of the course, the PCAMP graduates will be able to demonstrate a number of competencies and have enhanced knowledge and skills including:

Application of skin anatomy and physiology, and science in relation to aging and aesthetics

Ability to assess patients' requirements and suitability for aesthetic intervention

Application of consent, medico legal parameters and ethical practice in aesthetic medicine

Procedural skills in non and minimally invasive aesthetic procedures including rejuvenation techniques, dermal fillers, botulinum toxin injections and some lasers
-
Assessment and treatment of complications of aesthetic procedures
-
Develop an evidence based approach to aesthetic medicine and practice
-
Advise on the role of invasive aesthetic procedures
This course shall also be a pathway for a post graduate Diploma in Health Care Management in Aesthetic Medical Practice and Master in Science in Public Health from St. Elizabeth University, Europe.

The PCAMP consists of 10 parts:

Online Study, Webinar, Blog, Interactive Forum, and Practice Test

Written Examination MCQ Paper (100 multiple-choice questions, 5 parts, each-total of 500 questions, over a 2-hour period, in true/false format). Upon completion of the Written Exam, a Certificate of Completion will be awarded to successful candidates

Oral Examinations (60-minute Oral Examination, only candidates who have successfully passed the Written Exam and completed a minimum of clinical assignment cases as stated in the MOH Guidelines are invited to sit for the Oral exams). Upon completion of the Oral Exam, a Professional Certificate in Aesthetic Medicine will be awarded to successful candidates

A logbook of practical cases performed, in accordance with the respective MOH or Medical Council guidelines and requirements are to be observed. Upon completion of practical cases and assessment of procedural skills, a Certificate of Training will be issued to successful candidates. For Malaysian doctors, refer to MOH Guidelines

Candidates whose performance are unsatisfactory in the Written and Oral Examinations will be offered the opportunity to re-sit for these examinations in the next term

All candidates must have satisfactorily completed all elements of the Certification.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

An undergraduate medical degree (MBBS or its equivalent) from an institution that is recognized and approved by the Asian Medical Councils

Candidate must possess a current and valid Annual Practicing Certificate, and be fully registered with the Medical Regulatory Authorities

Possess a minimum of 3 years of clinical practice experience

Proof of membership from a recognised medical professional association
-
Accreditation of prior or experiential learning (APL/APEL) towards the programme will be awarded in line with the SAAARMM APL Policy
-
For medical practitioners (Malaysians) who are already practicing aesthetic medical practice, the MOH Main Credentialing and Privileging Committee of Aesthetic Medical Practice and SAAARMM will decide if further training is needed, in part or in total
